The Secret Diary of a Dog Walker — Entry #1

Est Reading Time: 2 minutes

“The Great Poo Bag Crisis (Starring Ted & Fred)”

You’d think, after years of walking dogs, I’d be a seasoned professional when it comes to poo bag logistics. I mean, I carry them in every coat, in every pocket, in the car, in my bag — I’m like a walking biodegradable dispenser.

But on this particular day… I ran out. I was walking two cheeky Cockapoos, Ted and Fred — best mates, curly-haired charmers, total mischief-makers. We were having a lovely stroll through a quiet neighbourhood when Fred decided to leave a little “parting gift” outside someone’s front door.

Cue mild panic.

I checked every pocket. Every pouch. The car was too far away. The house felt too close. And Fred was looking very pleased with himself. Just as I was deciding whether to knock on the door and ask for a carrier bag (mortifying), I heard laughter behind me.

One of the builders working next door — who had clearly seen the entire drama unfold — called out, “Need a bag, love?” while practically howling with laughter. Hero. Crisis averted, bag acquired, poo respectfully removed.

🐾 Lesson of the Day: Always Pack More Than You Think You Need

Dog walking keeps you humble — and slightly sweaty. Even when you think you’ve prepared for every eventuality, dogs like Ted and Fred will always find a way to keep you on your toes (and knees… outside someone’s porch).

This job is unpredictable, sometimes messy, but always full of moments like this — funny, human, and slightly embarrassing. And honestly? I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
